Evertrsen, David Leslie - December 30, 2009
David Leslie Evertsen 1941 – 2009 My beloved husband, our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather died on December 30, 2009 due to an un-successful fight with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. He was born in Ogden, Utah to Joseph William and Eleanor MacFarlane Evertsen. He was one of five children; Nancy, Joseph and twins, Mary and Ricky. Dave met the love of his life, Cherry Turner while working at the Capitol Theatre. Dave joined the Army Reserves and was shipped to Fort Ord for basic training. He served 6 years in the Army Reserves. After a long distance courtship, Cherry and David were married April 8, 1961. From that union came three incredible children, Kristie Dawn Bridge (Todd), Darci Rae Kendrick (Robert) and Gavin Dave Evertsen, 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Dave was a salesman for nearly 45 years, selling cookies and snack foods to convenient stores across the Wasatch front. We were blessed in his passing as he was surrounded by his children and wife, prayers and tears pouring over him, as he ascended into the arms of God. He is at peace now. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, January 5th, with a social gathering at 11:00 am and the services at 12:00 noon at Garner Funeral Home/Salt Lake Mausoleum, 1001 11th Ave., SLC. We want to thank the wonderful cancer team who were with Dave from the beginning; Dr. Elizabeth Prystas, Wasatch Hematology/Oncology and her incredible Staff, Dr. Julie Asch and Dr. Finn Petersen, Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant and their wonderful staff. This death experience would not have been as beautiful and profound without the help of CNS Hospice, especially the nursing care of Barbara and Jennifer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Dave’s memory to the Huntsman Cancer Research Institute. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.garnerfuneral.com

Cherry,
I just finished reading the obituary for Dave that my sister Bonnie sent. As kids growing up Dave was one of the best of us and he was Don's best friend. I always appreciated the love you and Dave gave to Don and I know that it meant everything to him.
Mine and Joyce's prayers are with and thankful that you were able to be with Dave in his final moments. Love, Cal
