Manning, William (Bill) - June 2, 2010

 

William (Bill) Manning, 91, of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away peacefully on June 2, 2010 after celebrating his 69th wedding anniversary with his loving wife, Arlene, on May 29th, 2010.
He was born on April 1, 1919 to Natalie and Joseph Matakas, both were Lithuanian immigrants. As a young man he was a coal miner and a boxer. Later he embarked on a long and successful career as a radio announcer and a Radio Advertising salesman in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Bill had a quick wit, a great sense of humor, and a mastery of the English language. He and his wife Arlene enjoyed many years of traveling throughout the United States and to numerous foreign countries.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Arlene, 3 children, 3 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. The children are William R. Manning of Easley, S.C.; Kathleen N. Manning of El Cerrito, Ca. and Richard A. Manning of Salt Lake City, Utah. Grandchildren; Anna Cabezas (daughter of Kathleen), Franklin Manning (son of William R.), and Stephen Manning (son of William R.). The great-grandchildren are William R. Manning II, (Son of Franklin), and Kieran, (son of Anna).
